EcoStruxure Substation Operation GTW
The EcoStruxure Substation Operation Gateway (formerly known as PACiS Gateway) is responsible for data exchange between two networks: the EcoStruxure Substation Operation Substation Network with its IEC61850 devices and the remote SCADA or EMS network
SCADA & EMS Gateway. Communication Front End for the new generation of Digital Substations
PACiS GTW gateway is a software package installed on an industrial PC or on a Nonrotating part Embedded PC to increase environmental capabilities.
Features of EcoStruxure Substation Operation Gateway
The EcoStruxure Substation Operation GTW (Gateway) is in the EcoStruxure Substation Operation Digital Control System architecture in charge of data exchange between two networks: the PACiS Network with its UCA2 or IEC61850 devices and the dedicated network with remote SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) or EMS (Energy Management System).
Several protocols are implemented to make available communication with SCADA and EMS:
- IEC 60870-5-101
- IEC 60870-5-104
- Serial link GI74
- Modbus
- DNP3.0
- OPC
The EcoStruxure Substation Operation GTW architecture allows simple and efficient integration of new or existing protocols. EcoStruxure Substation Operation GTW may support more than one protocol and also complete redundancy (communication medium and physical device).
Communication ports with SCADA
• Number of simultaneous protocols: 4
• Number of serial ports by protocol: 2 (main, redundant)
• Thus 8 ports maximum on one gateway: 2 cards with 4 ports
• Number of communication ports: 8 at the most, set by PACiS SCE
• Baud rate (bits/s): from 100 to 38400, set by PACiS SCE
The motherboard has 2 serial communication ports. You can use them for one communication with SCADA plus a redundant port or 2 communications with SCADA. For additional communication ports , add a PCI or an ISA communication card into the PC.
