Self-powered feeder protection ABB REJ603 numerical relay is entry-level protection in secondary distribution networks. ABB REJ603 devices are for selective short-circuit & earth-fault protection of feeders in secondary distribution networks and also for the protection of small transformers in utilities and industries. REJ603 is a current-transformer-powered numerical feeder protection relay especially developed for applications where auxiliary power is not available making it an immaculate choice for installation at remote locations. These relays are primarily used in ring main units as well as secondary distribution switchgear within distribution networks. 1.5 & 3.0 Variants have special and conventional current transformers respectively.
Scope
- Overcurrent & earth fault protection
Benefits of ABB REJ603 Numerical Relay
- High suitability of operation with low-energy trip coils.
- Hand-reset electromechanical flag (Built-in).
- Powering through the front USB port eradicates the need for a built-in battery and also provides access to events/fault information when CT power is not available
- Speedy commissioning via selective test function for protection functions & binary output contacts as well as test trip to the circuit breaker.
- Fault analysis with event log & disturbance record facility (3.0 variant).
- Extensive self-supervision of relay hardware & software.
Key Features of ABB REJ603 Numerical Relay
- Used in cable and transformer feeders in solidly earthed, resistance-earthed and isolated networks where auxiliary power is not available/cannot be guaranteed
- Non-directional overcurrent, earth-fault protection, inrush current detection, thermal overload protection, remote trip & measurements
- Low-energy trip output & bi-stable outputs to trip the circuit breaker
- Disturbance & event records are downloadable from the front USB port and also utilised for communication with relay to desktop or laptop/PC & power bank; functions are available via USB powering-up relays in the absence of current input (3.0 variant)
- Designed for Ring Main Unit (RMU) & compact switchgear
ABB Numerical Relays
ABB Numerical relays are based on the usage of microprocessors. The difference between conventional electromechanical relays & static relays is how they are wired. Electromechanical & static relays have fixed wiring also their setting is manual. On the other hand, Numerical Relays are programmable relays where the characteristics & behaviour can be programmed. Also, Most numerical relays are multifunctional.
