REB500 – Distributed busbar protection
The IEC 61850-enabled REB500 Intelligent Electronic Device (IED) is designed to support various protection philosophies. You can create a distributed protection solution by assigning bay units to dedicated bay cubicles, where bay protection is assigned to separate bay units. Alternatively, you can integrate all necessary functionality into one or several centralized cubicles.

The REB500 utilizes proven concepts and algorithms that have been continuously used and improved over the past 15 years. The unique signal prolongation principle allows for continuous measurement, ensuring the correct operation of the busbar protection even when current transformers are heavily saturated during external faults. This principle guarantees the correct operation of the busbar protection instead of blocking the protection function, thereby preventing the busbar from being left unprotected.
Secure
The REB500 detects all bus and feeder faults for any type of system earthing, whether isolated, solidly earthed, low impedance earthed, or compensated earthed. It operates selectively for all faults within the protected zone while maintaining complete stability for faults outside the protected zone.
The integrated overall check zone feature is completely independent of the isolator position indications. This feature ensures that the REB500 remains stable even if the busbar replica is invalid.
