Hitachi Energy presents a small-sized high impedance differential protection system. In addition to providing high impedance differential protection for generators, autotransformers, shunt reactors, and capacitor banks, the REB650 is principally intended for the protection of single busbars in high impedance-based systems, whether or not sectionalizers are present. One IED can be used to protect up to three 3-phase high impedance differential protection zones thanks to its I/O capability.
In securely earthed or low impedance earthed power systems, REB650 guarantees quick fault clearance for all kinds of internal phase-to-phase and phase-to-earth faults. In isolated or high-impedance earthed power systems, it can also manage any internal multi-phase failure.
The Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs) in the 650 series offer several helpful features, including a large reduction in the number of parameter settings and expanded IED HMI functionality. These features include up to three pages of dynamic, three-color indication LEDs on each page, as well as configurable push-button shortcuts for various actions. The most fundamental settings are predetermined for the 650 series IEDs before they are shipped from the factory. All the settings unique to your application need to be set. This enables you to activate your IEDs rapidly. Providing examples in the application handbook can help your protection engineers.
