Description

ABB Current sensor SER605 Monitoring devices

ABB CURRENT SENSOR SER605 MONITORING DEVICES SER605 CURRENT SENSOR THIS TECHNOLOGY ALLOWS A UTILITY TO AUTOMATE ITS ELECTROMECHANICAL SUBSTATIONS WITHOUT THE HIGH COST OF A MICROPROCESSOR PANEL UPGRADE.

The data acquisition is performed by a purpose built device using fast A/D conversion, with continuous streaming and a resolution up to 22 bits (typical 16 bit). It has a programmable gain option feature for improved accuracy, individual channel sampling rates of 2 KHz., and a fast Ethernet interface for real time data transfers. It requires 24 VDC power.

Why ABB? time saving solution technology allows a utility to automate its electromechanical substations without the high cost of a microprocessor panel upgrade capable of fast line restoration, fault and disturbance analysis, and real time monitoring of evolving loads

ABB Monitoring devices

As a term power monitoring devices is not exact. It can be almost everything from simple LED-lights showing if power is on or off, or it can be as large as showing the power quality and power consuming trends.

Under this category, ABB provides trip circuit relays for continuous monitoring of circuit-breaker trip circuits and other essential control circuits. However, ABB has products for both substation wide monitoring (alarm annunciators) and power grid wide monitoring (network management systems).

Scope

  • Monitoring of circuit-breaker trip circuits and other essential control circuits

Product benefits

  • Relay for main or backup circuit supervision

Product features

  • Proven technology
  • Suitable for different voltage levels

ABB Numerical Relays

Numerical relays are based on the use of microprocessors. The first numerical relays were released in 1985.

A big difference between conventional electromechanical and static relays is how the relays are wired. Electromechanical and static relays have fixed wiring and the setting is manual. Numeric relays, on the other hand, are programmable relays where the characteristics and behavior can be programmed. Most numerical relays are also multifunctional.

Scope

  • Modern protection relays
  • Multifunctional protection

Product benefits

  • Provide continuity of power to consuments
  • Protection of network assets
  • Protection against life-threatening electrical incidents

Product features

  • Self-checking facility
  • Low burden relays improve accuracy
  • Fast fiber optical communication with substation LAN
  • Adaptive relaying schemes
  • Permit storage of historical data
  • Time stamping
