Description

RTXV – Control unit for operating voltage level

High-speed auxiliary relays may operate unintentionally during earth faults in DC battery systems. This happens because the system’s capacitance to earth discharges through the relay when a ground fault occurs. Consequently, the discharge creates a voltage across the relay, which can trigger unwanted operation. To prevent this risk, users can connect an RTXV control unit in series with the relay coil terminal.

Furthermore, the RTXV control unit protects auxiliary relays against misoperation caused by voltage transients and other electrical surges. It is particularly suitable for trip relays and other critical auxiliary functions that require controlled pick-up voltage. Therefore, it helps improve operational reliability and prevents unwanted relay activation.

Main Features:

  • No Delay in Normal Operation: Maintains normal relay operation without introducing additional delays.

  • No Capacitance Limit: Handles DC battery systems without limiting their tolerated capacitance to earth.

  • Flexible Connection: Can connect to either the positive or negative side of the auxiliary device, depending on the system configuration.
